This autumn St. Johannes Catholic Bible school opens at Marias Minde in Sandviken.. The school offers studies in Catholic belief & practice & basic training in children & young people’s catechises or in parish finance & administration. It is possible to hand in palm branches from last year’s Palm Sunday to the parish office or the sacristy until 13th<\/sup> February. They will be burnt & the ash used for the ash crosses on Ash Wednesday.<\/p>\n Lent begins in 14th<\/sup> February. Ash Wednesday masses will be in Filippino at 5pm, in Polish at 6 pm & in Norwegian at 7 pm. During Lent stations of the cross will be on Fridays at 6.30 pm\u00a0 except when there is mass in Polish when they will be at 6.30 pm.<\/p>\n Youth worker Maria Krakus invites all young people over 16 years of age to take part in a Lenten retreat with Franciscan father Hallvard Hole from 16th<\/sup> to 18th<\/sup> February. Sylfest Lomheim, professor of languages at the University of Agder & former director of the\u00a0 Language Council of Norway will give a talk entitled \u201cBiblical language in our everyday language\u201d.
