Everybody will have seen pictures of the dreadful explosion in Beirut, in which over 140 people have died and thousands have been injured. Large parts of the city have been destroyed, and tens of thousands of its inhabitants have lost their homes. Many of these are Maronite (Catholic) Christians. Catholic aid organisations and also we in St Paul’s Parish are trying to help our brothers and sisters in their time of need.
Contributions can be given after Mass in collection boxes marked «Beirut 2020». It is also possible to use Vipps to account number: 617931.
These contributions will be sent through Caritas to «Kirche in Not» in Germany, which has already started aid work.
